The Code of Good Faith for Public Health Sector in the Employment Relations Act 2000 requires Te Whatu Ora to provide for patient safety during any strike, by ensuring life preserving services (LPS) are available to prevent a serious threat to life or a threat of permanent disability. ASMS and Te Whatu Ora have agreed the following arrangements for any strike of Senior Medical Officers and Senior Dental Officers employed by Te Whatu Ora where Health New Zealand provides health care services or hospital care services in Waitematā District, Te Toka Tumai Auckland District, Counties Manukau District, all places within Waikato District that lie within the Hamilton City Council territorial boundary, Capital & Coast District, Hutt Valley District, all places within Waitaha District that lie within the Christchurch City Council territorial boundary and all places within Southern District that lie within the Dunedin City Council territorial boundary for four hours from 11am to 3pm on Thursday 23 October.
