Thursday 23 October: supporting all essential workers
On Thursday 23 October, ASMS members in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington Christchurch and Dunedin have voted to strike for four hours.
This strike will coincide with rallies being held across the motu by public sector employees – from teachers to nurses to firefighters – being asked (just like doctors) to accept a real pay cut in their bargaining and live with a lack of colleagues to do their jobs properly.
DUE TO WEATHER WARNINGS A NUMBER OF OUTDOOR RALLIES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED AND OTHERS HAVE BEEN MOVED INDOORS.
NZEI (The primary teachers union) is keeping an up-to-date list of amended venues here. Please check details in your area.
NOTE: Rallies in Auckland and Hamilton will continue as planned. All rallies in Wellington and Christchurch have been cancelled. The Dunedin rally has been moved indoors to the Edgar Centre.
